Huggins, Murray take
EBBA awards
England star Roger Huggins has once again
been named as English Basketball Association's Men's Player of the Year,
despite his one match boycott of the national team during the campaign.
Fiona Murray of Birmingham Quality Cats
wins the Women's award, the third time the England international has picked
up the honour. Huggins wins the award for the second time in his career
whilst Murray takes the award for the third time, testimony to their commitment
to the sport, not only this year but over past seasons.
Former Shaffield star Huggins, 31, has
had another good year, both for England and his Belgium club side Antwerp.
During the year Huggins moved to eighth place on the all time England caps
list (64) and his outstanding performances in the European Championships
helped to ensure England's place in the Semi Final Round next season.
33 year old, has been one of the leading
players in the Women's game for most of the 1990s. This season she
led her club to the Final of the National Cup in Sheffield and in amassing
76 England caps, having made her debut in 1985 against Ireland, has contributed
enormously to the England programme this season.
