Wildcats reign supreme with 100% season
Snowcream Wildcats created their own piece of Irish basketball history by lifting the Championship in Cork, adding to their ESB Superleague and Sprite Cup trophies. Their 82-68 over Tolka Rovers in a fast paced final gave the Waterford side an unprecedented 100% record in all Irish competitions this season, a tremendous achievement for Gerry Fitzpatrick and his talented squad.
Tolka, who had surprised Naomh Mhuire in Saturday's semi-final, found themselves under pressure from the start, and as so often this season, Wildcats' trio of Maguire, Hayes and Aspell pounded their opponents. Michelle Maguire, with 23 points, led Wildcats' second half burst for the Championship and earnt the MVP prize, with namesake Sharon leading the Dublin side on 20 points.
