Eagles leave Rocks on brink

Edinburgh Rocks look set to exit the BBL Trophy at the group stages after falling 107-73 at Newcastle Eagles.

The out of form Scots raced into an early ten point lead but allowed the Eagles to surge ahead with a strong finish to the first half. Despite 23 points from Roy Gardner, the Rocks never recovered as Newcastle lifted themselves into second place in Pool B, Shawn Myers hitting a game-high 27.

"We just never came out of the locker room for the second half," lamented Rocks coach Kevin Wall who now must lift his side for Saturday's Meadowbank clash with Sheffield Sharks - a team which the capital outfit have never beaten in their four year existence.

Meanwhile Chester's Robbie Peers and Brighton's Sterling Davis have been named, respectively, as BBL Coach and Player of the Month for November.
