Kinder London Towers
suffered their first defeat of their NEBL Open campaign on Thursday night,
as Polish side Polonia Warbud defeated them 89-73 at Crystal Palace National
Sports Centre.
Polonia did the bulk
of the damage in a high scoring first quarter, leading by 16 points at
36-20 and they extended the punishment with another 23 points by half-time
at 55-32. Their lead was up to as many as 25 points in the third quarter
at 65-40, but Towers belatedly responded with a 12-2 run, before James
Havrilla - once of the Leicester Riders - re-established Polonia's strong
advantage.
Jurkunas bagged 19
points for the visitors, a tally equalled by Towers' top scorer Terrell
Myers.
