Towers win NEBL Battle of Britain

Kinder London Towers 101 (15,39,70) (Myers 26, Eppehimer 23, Youngblood 22)
Pertemps Bullets Birmingham 87 (28,46,66) (Bailey 24, Johnson 20, Paternostro 15)

Kinder London Towers won the battle of the BBL sides as they kicked off their NEBL Open campaign with a 101-87 victory over Pertemps Bullets Birmingham at Crystal Palace, recovering from a poor start to take the win.

London coach David Lindstrom commented: "I was very disappointed in the way we came out. There was not a lot of energy. We addressed that at half time and the team came out in the second period and responded well. But we have to do that in the first half as well."

Bullets dominated the first half but their 13-point first quarter lead was reduced to just seven at the break.

Brett Eppehimer had 17 third quarter points as Towers roared back into the game, but it wasn't over with 2.30 left and Towers only 89-85 ahead. However the home side finished the game with twelve of the last fourteen points to seal victory.

Terrell Myers hit five threes in his game leading 26 points, whilst Brant Bailey poured in 24 to lead the Bullets.

"I thought their big players had a big last quarter," Bullets Coach Lance Randall remarked. "Every time one of their players steps up in the last quarter. Terrell did it last time, tonight it was Eppehimer. The turning point for us was the fourth foul on Brant Bailey when he was the leading
scorer in the game. They stick us in the fourth quarter every time."
