Birmingham began the second phase of the NEBL Open with defeat in Bulgaria
on Wednesday night, as Yambolgaz ran out 97-82 victors to lead the way
in Group F.
Bullets trailed by
two points at the end of the first quarter and by nine points at half-time
at 48-39. Yambolgaz extended that lead to 20 points five minutes into the
third quarter at 65-45, but Birmingham rallied and cut the deficit to ten
points, 89-79, with two minutes remaining in the final quarter. Despite
a game-high 33 points from Rashod Johnson, Lance Randall's men could not
avoid defeat.
Rob Paternostro added
25 points for Bullets, while Yambolgaz' top scorer was Dimitar Angelov
who bagged 19.
