Bullets on European cruise

Birmingham Bullets raced to a comfortable victory in their NEBL opener at Aston Villa against Weissenfels on Tuesday night, winning 80-64 against the lacklustre German visitors.

Lance Randall's team held their visitors to just 8 points in the first quarter and they later extended their lead to 20 points at 32-12.

Weissenfels, led by 19 points from Donte Mathis, made several inroads into the deficit during the
second half but the hosts always came up with crucial basket to keep the visitors at arms length.

Ben Walker, making his European debut, settled things early with 2 3-pointers on his way to a game high 20 points and was also outstanding with 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

Brant Bailey added 17 and six rebounds for the victors.

Elsewhere in the NEBL, Estonian side Kalev Tallin took a 72-75 win at Alita while former Bullets target Kendrick Warren fired a game-best 24 points for Honka Playboys who beat Grodno 73-78 in overtime.
