Neptune v Burger King Limerick
Neptune still hurting from the mid-week defeat to Waterford Crystal and playing their third game in eight days started off the fresher of the two teams. Kieran O'Brien again played solid defence as he had six boards in the first quarter. Watson and Gamble were too strong inside for Brown and
McFarlan and were good value for their slender 22-16 first quarter lead.Burger King made Neptune work hard on a lot of occasions, the shot clock was down to four or five seconds before Neptune could get a shot off. By contrast Brown and McFarlan were getting uncontested shots. Gamble was having one of his better games as Neptune maintained their six point lead as the half ended 40-34.
Neptune defensively picked up the pace at the start of the second half and forced Limerick into a number of turn-overs and two clock violations as Neptune opened up a l0 point gap 48-38. Two three pointers from Walsh and two lay-ups from McFarlan tied it at 48, with 4.10 remaining. Baskets from Neville, Watson and Noonan restored the Neptune lead 58-55. Fifty-five
seconds remaining and another Gamble basket gave Neptune a 60-55 lead at the end of the third quarter. Both clubs traded baskets at the start of the final quarter and with 5.50 remaining Neptune still held a six-point lead 66-60. It was evident they were starting to tire as Burgerking were picking up second and third offensive rebounds. With 2.48 left a Ger Noonan move gave the home time a
70-62 lead and forced Tom Hehir into a time-out. Free throws from Hall and Brown were answered with free-throws from Gamble and Mullins and with 50 seconds remaining it was 70-66. Brown and Walsh field goals were answered by Gamble and Watson as Neptune ran out deserved winners 74-70.
Dart Killester v Sx3 Star
A win for Killester this weekend keeps the holders hopes for the title
alive, while Star slip further down the table after a 99-86 defeat.
Killester were without Paddy Kelly and Ian Mason this weekend, but managed
to open up an early 10-0 lead. Star came back in the second quarter,
three-pointers from Scott Summersgill and Gareth Maguire helping their
campaign, a two-point game at half time 39-97.Killester went on their trademark third quarter rally and pulled away from
Star, opening up a 15-point lead midway through the quarter. Marvin Dixon
worked hard for Star and had the deficit reduced to 7 points going into the
final quarter, 69-62.

Maguire and coach Danny Fulton the culprits, giving Killester the
opportunity to pull away, 87-71. Star battled hard in the closing minutes,
but without Adrian Fulton were outclassed by a superior Killester side, the
game finishing 99-86.
Frosties Tigers v Esat Business Demons
Tralee maintained their clean home record with a win over Demons on Saturday
night and with only four league losses all season, it is down to a two-horse
race this week. Although 4-points behind League leaders Waterford Crystal,
Tralee Tigers have two games in hand. With Demon's win over Limerick
earlier this week, it was never going to be easy for Tralee, but they were
in control for most of the game.Tralee opened up an early lead and at the end of the first quarter were up
21-15.
Demons brought it back in the second quarter to reduce it to a 3-point game
at half time, Tralee still leading 37-34.Midway through the third quarter, Demons took the lead for the first time in
the game, up 46-44 with six minutes remaining. Tralee's John Teahan was
outstanding for the home team, top scoring on 29 points and bringing Tralee
back up, 58-56 going into the final period. The final quarter was scrappy with nine fouls called on Demons in ten
minutes. Kenny McFarland, Jermaine Turner and Mike Beckles all fouled out
in the last quarter. John Estick was fortunate to stay in the game, after
an unsportsman foul was called following an incident with Barnaby Craddock.
It was basket for basket down to the closing minute, Tralee winning more
baskets from the free throw line to pick up the valuable two points in a
80-75 victory.

stretched to a 17-point lead, 67-50 three minutes into the quarter.
Waterford put on a rally and brought the game back to 10-points but
Killarney looked unbeatable at the end of the third quarter, leading 76-66.Waterford Crystal took the lead for the first time in the game with a basket
from Mike Keohane, 91-89 with 39 seconds on the clock. Horgan responded and
levelled the game, 91-91. Possession to Crystal with six seconds remaining
and extra time looked inevitable. Singleton took the ball down the court
