ESB Men's Superleague Game Reports
Neptune 71           87 Dart Killester
Neptune took an early lead, thanks to an outstanding first quarter
performance from Kenny Gamble.  Gamble hit 12 points to win Neptune the
first quarter 25-16.

Killester's Eric Jackson had a superb game, both offensively and defensively
and come the second quarter he was all over Gamble to keep his damage to a
minimum for the remainder of the game.  Killester cut their deficit to 6
points with four minutes remaining and took the lead for the first time in
the game going into half-time 39-37.

The third quarter was scrappy with turnover after turnover and Killester
pulled away leading 51-43 with five minutes remaining.  Neptune cut it back
to 2 points going into the final quarter 57-59.

Neptune threw away any chance of a victory in the last quarter scoring a
mere 11points to Killester's 30.  With four minutes to go the teams were
even on 69 points apiece but Neptune had only one more point in the game
giving Killester their fourth win in a row.

Sx3 Star 70        79 Waterford Crystal
An off form day for Star but the Northerners can find comfort knowing a
defeat over their Cup rivals is still a possibility.  The first quarter
started and ended slow with a mere 7 points from Star.  Waterford looked to
be off form also but finished the quarter with a 7-point lead 14-7.

The game picked up in the second quarter and Star took the lead at half time
34-31.  Star struggled with their American centre Deric McGhee who had his
worst performance of the season.  McGhee was 0/12 at the 3pt line and
finished with a game total of 5 points.  The game was basket for basket in
the second half with Waterford taking back the lead going into the last
quarter 52-57.

Star were unable to bring it back and Waterford picked up the points in the
Cup semi preview winning 79-70.

Tolka Rovers 95         89 Esat Business Demons
An incredible 18 points for John Esitck in the first quarter put Demons in a
good position, leading 33-14 at the end of the first period.  Demons
maintained that lead and at half time with a 16pt lead, the game looked to
be over.  Demons led 59-43.

The second half saw the Cork team fall apart and Tolka managed to cut it
back to 9pts, 69-78 at the end of the third quarter.  With 8 minutes to go
in the final quarter it looked all over for Tolka when Zedrick Smith fouled
out of the game.  With six free throws in the last 30 seconds Tolka pulled
it off and picked up the valuable 2 points by winning 95-89.

St Vincent's 94           91  Burger King Limerick
A great home win for St Vincent's, despite Mike Trimmer fouling out with six
minutes to go in the last quarter.  A game high of 38 points from BJ
McFarland was not enough for Limerick and the usually reliable Cleotis Brown
was off form scoring a mere 4 points from play.

The opening quarter was basket for basket with Vincent's finishing on top
20-19.  Limerick had the better second quarter and they pulled away to take
a 13point lead at half time 49-36.
Mick Richardson had a superb game for Vincent's and in the third quarter he
helped Vincent's right back into the game and pushed them ahead 67-64 at the
end of the third period.

With 4½ minutes left in the game the sides drew even 80-80 and stayed neck
on neck for the closing minutes.  A vital steal from John Kelleher won the
game for Vincent's.  Limerick led 91-90 but Kelleher intercepted a long pass
to Brown and a basket soon followed to give Vincent's a narrow 92-91 lead
with seconds remaining.  A final basket from Richardson sealed the game for
Vincent's.

ESB Women's Superleague
Bausch & Lomb Wildcats 94           91  Tolka Rovers
Wildcats won a pulsating top-of-the-table clash with Tolka Rovers to go four
points clear in the Women's Superleague.  Wildcats fought back form 4 points
behind to bring the game into overtime thanks to a score on the buzzer from
Olivia O'Reilly
