Kinder London Towers remain without a victory in this season's Euroleague after Greek outfit Peristeri dealt Lino Frattin's men a 99-75 defeat on Thursday night.
"Peristeri played with a lot of intensity, because they need to win, anyway," admitted Frattin afterward. "Concerning my team, there are some players who have progressed their own and the team's game. We are missing international experience and we don't have great ambitions in the Euroleague."
The Towers started slowly but thanks to a game high 27 points from Terrell Myers were in touch at 53-40 at the interval. Indeed after a good start to the third quarter the deficit was just 5 at 51-56. However the hosts stepped up from long range and soon had the lead back to double figures to run out comfortable victors, Byron Dinkins hitting a team-high 23.
Myers aded: "There are some limits in our game. We stayed competitive in the first quarter, but the physical game of Peristeri was a big problem to solve. We lost the control of the game."
Elsewhere in Group B, leaders Kinder Bologna took a 86-70 win Union Olimpija while Frankfurt picked upa third victory of their campaign, 74-70 over Ulker Istanbul. Barcelona bounced back from their Week Four loss to secure a 90-86 defeat of Zalgiris in Spain.
The Lithuanians have received a further blow with the news that former Portland Trailblazer Arvydas Sabonis has decided not to play for Zalgiris Kaunas in this year's Euroleague. Oft-injured Sabonis, a part owner of the club, was quoted in the Lithuanian media as being unfit to participate.
"How will I play? In order to play I need at least three months of training. This season I will definitely not play. What will happen next year we'll see when it comes," said Sabonis who did not return a mid-season return to the NBA where he would be a free agent.
