Sheffield edged an
exciting BBL Championship encounter with Birmingham on Wednesday
night, winning 83-81 to cut the gap on top-of-the-table Chester Jets to
just four points.
Sharks lead throughout
the first and second quarters, ahead 46-36 at half-time. However, Bullets
remained in contention and two Rashod Johnson three pointers at the end
of the
third saw the home
side take their first lead at 62-60. Johnson sunk another long range shot
at the start of the fourth quarter to put Bullets ahead by five points,
but Sharks rallied with nine unanswered points to set up a tense finale.
With the score tied
at 81-81 with 40 seconds to go, Bullets missed their chance to take the
lead and Jeff Monaco hit the winning basket with five second left on the
clock. Johnson led all scorers with 25 points for Bullets who remain in
a mid-season slump.
