Birmingham Bullets
snatched a dramatic quarter-final win in the ntl:home National Cup at the
Coventry Skydome after a 67-66 defeat of Edinburgh Rocks, stealing victory
with a score five seconds from the finish.
It was Ted Berry
who paced Edinburgh's scoring with 18, spurring the fightback after Birmingham
grabbed a ten point advantage in the second quarter. Down 40-32 at half-time,
the
Rocks tenaciously
wore Bullets down and eventually went in front midway through the final
period after consecutive three pointers from Scottish international Keith
Bunyan.
Berry fouled out
however in the penultimate minute, allowing the Midlands outfit to regain
the lead but Ryan Huntley, playing through injury, again put Edinburgh
in front. However on their final chance, Lance Randall's side stole a last
four berth, Rashod Johnson firing a three pointer to leave the Rocks stunned.
"We were lucky out
there," said Randall, whose team were led by Ben Walker's 16 point haul.
