Chester Jets are
just one win away from an historic domestic clean-sweep alive thanks to
a 97-82 victory over the Brighton Bears in the semi finals of the BBL Championship.
A tight start to
the game saw both sides trading baskets throughout the opening period with
the scores tied at 23-23 after the first quarter. In the second period,
Brighton opened up an eleven point lead off the back of a 13-2 run to lead
48-37, and ultimately lead 48-39 at the half.
Chester - without
sixth man Dave Gardner who is on an ill-timed holiday in Australia - came
out in the second half with all guns blazing restricting Brighton to just
ten points, and scoring thirty-two points themselves, including a 13-4
burst to lead 71-58 at the end of the third. A 12-2 run at the start
of the final quarter saw Chester open up an 83-59 lead, and even though
Brighton trimmed it back to sixteen points at 87-71 with a 10-0 tear, Chester
held on to secure their Wembley appearance against old rivals Sheffield.
John McCord led all
scorers with 25 points, while Randy Duck led the Bears scorers with 19.
