Lions in as Bullets, Tigers fall short

Brighton Bears 95 (16,31,67) (Davis 25, Duck 23, Johnson 18)
Chester Jets 87 (19,46,63) (Davis 26, McCord 19, Thomas 17)

Brighton Bears kept the Southern Conference title aspirations alive with a 95-87 victory over
Northern Conference champions Chester Jets.  Chester enjoyed the early showing opening up a 46-31 lead at the half.  In the second half, Brighton came storming back, and Randy Duck levelled the scores at 58-58 and a Sterling Davis three gave Bears the lead.  A 12-1 run across the third and fourth quarter break gave Brighton a 73-63 lead, and Chester could find no way back.  Brighton must now beat Pertemps Bullets Birmingham tomorrow, and hope that the Kinder London Towers lose to Leopards Kool Kats to take the title.  Davis led the Bears scorers with 25, while Calvin Davis led all scorers with 26 for the Jets.

Leopards Kool Kats 70 (26,40,60) (Alderson 26, Robinson/Brown 11)
Milton Keynes Lions 74 (18,32,53) (Siemon 18, Brown 14, Alleyne 11)

Milton Keynes Lions have gained the final playoff berth in the Southern Conference thanks to a 74-70 victory over Leopards Kool Kats.  Leopards led for the majority of the game, but an Andrew Alleyne two tied things up at 67-67 with 4:18 remaining.  The two Browns (Rod and Jermaine respectively) traded threes, but an 'unsportsmanlike' foul on Rico Alderson with 20 seconds remaining enabled the Lions to seal the game from the charity stripe.  Leopards must now beat the Towers tomorrow to guarantee third place in the South.  Alderson led all scorers with 26 points, while Jason Siemon led the Lions scoring with 18.

Thames Valley Tigers 85 (24,45,62) (Jamison 26, Davis 12, Meldrum 11)
Pertemps Bullets Birmingham 99 (30,57,85) (Paternostro 25, Johnson 22, Garcia 18)

Birmingham are out of the playoff picture due to other results this evening despite a convincing 99-85 victory over the also - exited Thames Valley Tigers.  Bullets led from start to finish, and
enjoyed their biggest lead of the game with five minutes remaining with the scores at 94-70.  This came off the back of a 7-0 burst, and even though the Tigers scored the last seven points in the game, they could not reverse the deposit.  Shawn Jamison led all scorers with a game-high 26 points, while Rob Paternostro led the Bullets scoring with 25.
