Thames Valley though rattled off an 18-4 burst in the third period to lead 63-53 with 3.30 left in the quarter.

Their lead peaked at 86-73 before Riders rallied with the next seven points. Riders continued to close the gap but the closest they could get was 94-92 when Jermaine Brown scored 10s from the end.

Billy Singleton led the Riders against his old club with 29 points whilst Ralph Blalock netted 19 and Jermaine Brown 18.

Newcastle Eagles closed the gap on the third placed Leicester Riders with a 104-85 victory at Derby Storm.

The game was very tight for three quarters until a technical foul on Derby coach John Spezia was part of an 8-0 burst by the Eagles in the last 30s of the third period. A 10-0 tear by Newcastle in the final quarter made the result safe at 89-71.

Shawn Myers and Jeremy Hyatt both hit 28 points for the Eagles, who were without the injured TJ Walker (hamstring).
