Earlier, Leopards had led for much of the game, but Sharks bagged a 10-0 run in the fourth quarter and in the dying seconds of regulation time Nate Reinking scored four times from the foul line to put Sharks ahead 78-75. A fantastic three pointer from Leopards star Rico Alderson forced the extra period and although Sharks' Lynard Stewart scored the first six points of the period, Leopards fought back until Payne's sensational winning shot.

Milton Keynes Lions                    78     (19,42,67)       (Payne 18, Lloyd/Kirk 17)

Brighton Bears moved up to third in the BBL Championship Southern Conference table courtesy of a 79-78 success at home to Milton Keynes Lions on Sunday evening. Nick Nurse's men had to come from behind to claim the win, as a 14-5 second quarter tear saw the Lions leading 33-21 early on. Lions extended their lead to as many as 17 points at 72-55 and 78-61 in the fourth quarter. However, Bears rallied and kept Milton Keynes scoreless for the final six and a half minutes, while netting 18 points themselves. That put them ahead 79-78 and then Lions' Andrew Alleyne missed a jump shot with only seconds remaining that would have won
the game for the visitors. Albert White was the star man - the Brighton star led all scorers with
27 points.

Eagles had the chance to hit back again, but Youngblood stole the ball from Malcolm Leak and John White scored on the buzzer to seal the win for the Towers. White bagged 18 points for Towers, but TJ Walker led the way with 20 for Newcastle.
