recorded their second successive BBL Championship victory over Northern
Conference opposition inflicting a tight 89-86 defeat over the Newcastle
Eagles on Thursday night.
Lions Victor Payne
extended a slender one point advantage to three with just 10s remaining,
bagging two free throws from the charity stripe. Eagles Jeremy Hyatt
had the chance to tie the game with a buzzer beating three pointer but
he failed to get a shot off.

Brighton Bears took
a huge step towards booking their berth in the BBL Trophy semi finals with
a convincing 103-87 success over Leopards on Thursday night at Brentwood.
The hosts started
the brighter posting an early 11-3 run but after the Bears had levelled
the game early in the second quarter a 16-2 tear gave them a double figure
advantage which they rarely relinquished. Bears Albert White and Sterling
Davis both posted double doubles, White leading all scorers on 30.
