Giants make it a double while Bullets crash land

BBL Championship

Manchester Giants      91     (23,41,56)       (Mickens 35, Ellis 23, Leahy 12)
Leicester Riders          83     (28,50,67)       (Moore 19, New 18, Singleton 16)

After waiting two month to break their duck, Manchester Giants notched up their second victory in as many days defeating Leicester Riders 91-83 on Sunday evening. The Giants staged an incredible 4th quarter revival to steal the victory. Going into the quarter 67-56 in arrears they levelled the game 79-79 before consecutive three pointers from Rick Mickens, who hit 19 of his game-high 35 tally in the final period, nudged the Giants in front and they held on.

BBL Trophy, Group A

Milton Keynes     85     (18,44,67)       (Lloyd 22, Siemon 20, Kirk 18)
Birmingham        70     (14,30,49)       (Bailey 18, Johnson/O'Connell 14)

Back on home soil after ten days spent touring the American college circuit, Birmingham received no happy welcome at Bletchley on Sunday as Milton Keynes Lions strengthened their case for a place in the BBL Trophy Quarter Finals with a 85-70 success over the Bullets .

Two three pointers from former Bullet Reggie Kirk sparked a 17-0 Lions burst which turned a 24-20 deficit to a 37-24 lead midway through the second quarter. Early third quarter three pointers from Nigel Lloyd and Kirk helped Lions open up a 53-36 advantage and despite Bullets raining in five three pointers in the final quarter there was to be no way back.
