Brighton Bears recorded
their first victory in the BBL Trophy this season at the second time of
asking defeating the in form Thames Valley Tigers 96-108 on Saturday night.
The Bears posted
a 10-0 second quarter burst to sieze the initiative and enjoyed their biggest
lead of the game midway through the 3rd at 74-57. The Tigers made significant
inrodes into their lead to trim the deficit to just 5 at 91-86 with 4 minutes
remaining but could get no closer.
Bears Albert White
was unstoppable with 40 personal points. Greg Meldrum fired 26 to lead
the hosts.

Sheffield moved up
to second place in the BBL Championship Northern Conference after a hard
fought 74-76 road victory over a determined Derby Storm on Saturday night.
A stubborn Storm
defence had held the visitors to just 6 first quarter points before their
advantage was whittled away in the second period. Derby still persisted
to remain in contention but Sharks Justin Phoenix converted a three point
play with just 8s remaining to give the Sharks a two point advantage at
76-74 and then held on to prevent the Storm scoring again as Danny Hildreth
failed to release last second attemtp before the buzzer.
Derby's Durrell Robinson
led all scorers with 32 while Nate Reinking paced the victors on 17.
