Lions 67 (10,38,51)
(Payne 19, Alleyne 14, Kirk 13)
Milton Keynes Lions
reversed last week's result against the Kinder London Towers to come away
from Crystal Palace NSC with a stunning 62-67 success - their first win
of the season.
Towers dominated
the first quarter and led 26-10, as Lions lost big man, Jason Siemon to
a shoulder ligament injury. However, the rest of the Lions' squad stepped
up and 15 unanswered points in the second quarter reduced the deficit to
36-34. A three-point play from the impressive young Englishman, Dru Spinks,
gave Lions their first lead at 43-41 and from there the game remained close
and tense. In the fourth quarter, Reggie Kirk hit a crucial three-pointer
to take the Lions' lead to five points at 61-56 and they held on for the
win. Towers' John White and Lions' Victor Payne each bagged 19 points each.

(Thomas 29, McCord 22, Davis 20)
Leicester Riders

(Blalock 30, New 15, Singleton 14)
Chester Jets rejoined
the Westfield Sharks Sheffield at the top of the BBL Championship
Northern Conference
thanks to an 87-79 win at home to Nurishment Leicester Riders on Sunday
evening. It was a game that Chester led for the most part, although Riders
refused to let the Jets run away with it - 24 second-half points from Ralph
Blalock helped keep the Riders in the game. In the fourth quarter, he bagged
eight points in a 13-2 Leicester tear, which reduced Chester's lead to
two points at 75-73. However, Jets fought back and despite losing star
player James Hamilton to a gashed head four minutes from time, they eased
to the win.
Blalock led all scorers
with 30 points, but John Thomas added 29 for Chester.

Tigers 73 (26,41,56)
(Meldrum 18, Bowman 16, Burks 14)
Edinburgh Rocks secured
their first points of the season with a 77-73 home victory over Thames
Valley Tigers in the BBL Championship. The visiting Tigers just shaded
a reasonably close first half and led 41-34 at half-time. They extended
their lead to 13 points in the third quarter. However, Rocks fought back
and turned that 13-point deficit into a one-point lead at 57-56, heading
into the final quarter. Edinburgh - led by 28 points from top scorer Ted
Berry - bagged 20 fourth-quarter points to take the win.
"People will now
look at us and say: 'Edinburgh's 1-2. They beat Thames Valley. They only
lost to Towers by a point'," said Rocks coach Kevin Wall. "Rather than
thinking: 'This is going to be an easy opponent'. We've turned it in the
other direction and I'm sure it will do wonders for our confidence. We
didn't play extremely well so we will get better. In some areas, we will
get a lot better fast and that's pretty exciting."
Greg Meldrum was
the Tigers' top man, with 18 points.
Brighton Bears
71 (15,32,49) (W.Johnson 27,
Davis 17, White 12)
Leopards

(R.Brown 22, Robinson 17, Alderson 10)
Brighton Bears picked
up their first win of the season with a 71-63 home success over DG Leopards
Kool Kats in Sunday's BBL Championship clash.
However, it was the
Leopards who started the brightest, running out to a 15-4 lead. For Brighton,
16 unanswered points either side of the first/second quarter break, put
the Bears ahead 26-19, as Leopards were kept scoreless for the first seven
minutes of the second quarter, Rico Alderson pickign up a technical.
An 8-0 run gave Brighton
their biggest lead at 53-37, and although Leopards rallied with a 10-2
tear, it was too late. Wilbur Johnson was the game's top scorer, with 27
points for the Bears, while a mis-firing Rod Brown added 22 for winless
Leopards.
