A late score
from Mike Redd ensured that Thames Valley Tigers halted their poor run
of results by snatching an upset victory over Westfield Sharks Sheffield
in Bracknell on Saturday evening, their 95-94 success dislodging
Chris Finch's side off the top of the Northern Conference table.
In a tight contest,
Sheffield edged into a 42-47 advantage at the interval before the two sides
again levelled at 71-71 at the end of the third, following an 8-1 run by
the Tigers and the disqualification of Tigers' Simon Ogunlesi and Sharks'
Fabulous Flournoy.
In the fourth quarter,
Sharks hit a 14-3 run to lead 85-78. Tigers clawed their way back into
it and a 9-2 run closed out the game with Tigers as one-point victors,
Redd bagging the decisive basket with four seconds remaining.
John McCord led the
game's scoring with 31 points for Thames valley; Nate Reinking scored 20
for Sheffield.
