Manchester
Giants continued their mid-season boom on Wednesday night thanks to an
79-82 victory away
to Thames Valley Tigers.
Down 24-18 after
the first quarter, in-form Giants came back to grab a 36-44 lead at half-time
and they led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, after a 13-5
tear gave them a 57-41 advantage.
However, Tigers fought
back strongly and a 15-2 run either side of the third/fourth quarter break
saw them get back to within a point at 67-68. Tigers went on to take the
lead at 74-73 and the game remained close down the stretch.
Tigers' All-Star
Tony Christie had a chance to force overtime, but his three-pointer on
the
buzzer rimmed out.
Justin Phoenix led
Giants scoring with 19 points, while Christie scored 21 for the home side.
Kelvin Robinson was making his Tigers' debut and netted 13 points.
