Tigers see off Riders

Thames Valley Tigers saw off Leicester Riders 111-84 at Bracknell on Wednesday night to move to the top of their uni-ball Trophy pool B.

And to add to the visitor's misery, they had point guard Larry Johnson taken to hospital after sustaining a head wound as the hosts picked up an eighth win in nine starts.

Tony Christie sparked Tigers early, netting 15 of his total 26 points in the first quarter as runs of 9-2 and 12-2 put Paul James' side up 32-17.

Billy Singleton led a fightback for Billy Mims' men but it proved to no avail as the in-form Southern Conference side  took a 53-38 lead into the interval.

Johnson's departure coincided with another Leicester burst which trimmed the Tigers' lead to just 61-54 but a further 15-3 spurt from the home team put the result of the game beyond doubt.

John McCord led all scorers with 28, while Purnell Perry hit a team-best 26 for Leicester who drop to second place in the group.
