After nine
perfect games, Chester finally changed their habits ... and lost.
Thames Valley Tigers
ended the Jets unbeaten start to the season
running out 92-86
victors after coming from 20 points down to win in a thrilling finale on
Saturday.
Chester dominated
the first half and they had a 37-57 lead when they scored the opening basket
of the third quarter. But runs of 11-2 and 10-3 brought the Tigers within
touching distance. The Jets still looked odds-on to extend their winning
streak to ten games when they led 84-76 late in the fourth, but the Tigers
netted 16 of the last 18 points to claim the win.
BBL Player of the
Month John McCord led all scorers with 25, whilst Tony Christie netted
two crucial three-pointers in the final two
minutes.
Jets were led by
James Hamilton's 24 points.
Paul James' side
had earlier announced the signing of ex-England cap Richard Scantlebury
who notched six points on his debut.
