Falkirk are top Scots

Falkirk may have won the Cup in the 1980s but never the league .. until now.

Their new version, Clark Eriksson Fury, put the rubber stamp on their first Scottish League title on Friday night after routing outgoing champions St. Mirren 59-77 at Linwood.

And it was the youth dubbed the future of Scottish basketball, 17 year old Kiaren Achara, who led the way in scoring 19 points as Falkirk extended their record to an uncatchable 15-0.

"To win it with three games left is fantastic," said elated coach John Bunyan, a figure so central to the club's success.

"This is something we never envisaged happening only four years after we came into the senior ranks."

St. Mirren put up a fight early on, leading 16-14 after the first quarter. But as so often this season, Fury's control took them convincingly ahead by half-time and they never looked back to spark the celebrations.
