Eagles make amend for Rocky loss

Newcastle Eagles coach Tony Garboletto wanted revenge. And he got it in thunderous fashion.

The Tyneside outfit made amends for their early season loss at Meadowbank by defeating Edinburgh Rocks 99-70 on Friday night, a result which advanced the Eagles' hopes of reaching the last eight of the uni-ball Trophy.

The win kept Eagles undefeated home record intact and came largely thanks to Tony Windless, who bagged a game-high 24 points.

"We have a team that is willing to compete every night," stated Eagles coach Tony Garboletto. "If we start believing in ourselves, who knows how good we can be."

Eagles dominated the game, although it was not until the second half that they really started to pull away, outscoring the Rocks 21-4 in a decisive third quarter spurt.

On his return to Tyneside, Chris Webber top scored for the Scots with 21 points but, with three defeats in the competition already, his team face an
almost impossible task to qualify.
