Eagles returned home after their uni-ball trophy semi-final victory on
Saturday night to claim a 109-89 win over Derby Storm on Sunday.
The Eagles bagged
ten without reply in the opening minutes to lead 14-5 and they never trailed
again. An 11-3 burst early in the third period had the Eagles 65-47 ahead,
but the Storm rallied to narrow the
gap to 84-76 after
they hit five three pointers to open up their final quarter.
Newcastle - paced
by 28 from Brian Whlers and 24 from Tony Windless -scored the next six
points and then made sure with 13 of the last 15 points in the game.
However it was Jumaine
Brown who led all scorers, hitting 31 for the struggling Storm.
