London Towers
slipped to a 78-75 defeat in Sweden on Sunday afternoon, as Norrkopping
Dolphins avenged a pre-season defeat by the Towers.
In front of over
1700 spectators in Norrkoping the home team won a very "strange" game.
Both the
teams had several
opportunities, and both of them exchanged their leading positions. Dolphins
took their lead at the beginning, but at the end of the first quarter the
board showed 22-23.
"We had a terrible
start; at that time I thought it would go till the very end. Luckily we
got our
things moving,"
Nick Nurse explained.
In the second and
the third quarter the lead was switching from one side to another all the
time,
and the crucial
moment did not come until the last minute. Thanks to David Bergstrom the
score
became 76-72.
But the British side
were to get one more chance. With only two seconds left Kendrick Warren
tried to shoot a three-pointer at 78-75, yet, unluckily, the ball hit the
ring and bounced out again.
"We had a terrible
week… We lost three games in a row," Nurse added.
Warren led the Towers'
scoring with 20 points, but it was the Dolphins' Fred Drains, who led all
scoring with 22 points.
The Londoners travel
to Denmark to face the Great Danes on Monday.
