Hatters off to typical start
NBL Round Up

Sheffield Hatters won their fourth league game in a row on Saturday, 62 - 41
against Coventry, and sit proudly on top of the Women's Division One with a
100% record.  The only other unbeaten teams in the division are Rhondda and
Wandsworth, each with a three game winning record.

Vanessa Ellis and Ann Jamieson both hit 14 for the Hatters with American
import Tiffany Mitchell replying with 12 for the Quality Cats.  Top scorer
for the weekend in the Women's League was Thames Valley's Swedish forward  Caroline Brattnas who hit 25 points in their 76 - 51 win at Nottingham in what was probably the performance of the day given Nottingham's impressive  start to the season.

In Division Two, Plymouth continue to lead the way with three wins from their
opening three games, closely followed by UWIC-Cardiff and Derby with two wins  apiece.

The Men's Conference moved into its fourth round of pool matches.  In Pool A
Teesside and Manchester look good bets to progress in the quarter finals,
Pool B is too close to call at the moment, Worthing and Oxford currently hold
the upper hand in Pool C whilst in Pool D, Inter Basket-London look sure to
fill one of the top two places with Coventry and Kingston fighting it out for
the other spot.

Notable performances in the Trophy were Paul Mundy-Castle's 36 point haul for  Worthing against Sutton in their narrow 90 - 89 success and Toby Tripalin's 26 points for Solent who squeezed past Cardiff 78 - 72.

In Men's Division Two, Hull Icebergs maintained their excellent early season
form with a comprehensive 97 - 51 victory over Swindon Sonics who are still
without a point this season whilst Ealing Tornados are keeping up with the
East Yorkshire outfit after they themselves registered their third success on
the trot with a well-earned 104 - 76 win at home to Northampton, Milek Jivens
and Pemble Bristol top scoring for the Tornados both with 22 points.

A closely contested Men's Division Three sees three teams sharing the lead at  the top of the league, Worcester Wolves, Barking & Dagenham Erkenwald and  Bristol Bombers who all have 3-1 records.

In the RAF Baden Junior and Cadet Leagues, the early season pointers are that  East London Royals will be in contention once again for honours in the Men's competitions with their teams having 100% records in all competitions played thus far whilst in the Junior and Cadet Women's Leagues, Notts Nova have opened the season with a bang reeling off three straight victories in the
Junior League and Rhondda Rebels have done likewise in the Southern section  of the Cadet Women's League.
