Fuel crisis causes NBL shutdown

In the light of the current fuel crisis, despite the news this morning that
the problem may be close to being resolved, England Basketball has taken the  decision to postpone all National Competition fixtures this weekend.

In a statement released by the NBL, it stated. "The decision is taken right across the board to avoid any confusion that may have existed had an ad-hoc approach been adopted.  For example, in some cases  we are being notified that home teams are unable to assemble, away teams cannot travel, venues cannot be staffed and match officials are not able to travel either.

"England Basketball apologises for any inconvenience this may cause clubs but,  after taking all matters into account, is of the opinion that the decision
taken is the correct one."

It is expected the league will be up and running again on Saturday 23rd
September.
