Milton Keynes
Lions avenged their uni-ball trophy quarter-final defeat at the hands of
Thames
Valley Tigers to
record a 85-82 victory over them on Saturday night.
The Lions built up
an impressive lead, with a 10-0 burst in the second quarter, followed by
an 11-2 run at the end of the half, which saw them leading 53-36. A 8-2
third quarter tear then helped them further ahead at 61-42 midway through
the third period.
However, Tigers,
led by John McCord's 32 points, fought back to force a tight finale. They
got to within two points at 75-77 with 1.09 remaining, but the Lions held
on for the win. Merrill Brunson led the Lions' scoring with 19 points.
