Milton Keynes Lions began their uni-ball trophy campaign with a 102-95 home victory over Natural Flow Newcastle Eagles in group C.
Despite the result, it was actually the visiting Eagles who started the brighter, an 11-2 tear contributing to their 21-26 first quarter advantage.
However, an 18-5 start to the second quarter put the Lions in charge, before a come-back by the Eagles, which made it a one-point game (72-71) heading into the final quarter.
An early 9-0 run and then the final six points of the game eventually sealed the game in Lions favour.
Jason Siemon was the game's most prolific player, with a double double of 28 points and 11 rebounds, while TJ Walker top scored for Eagles with 24.
