Westfield Sharks Sheffield won the first Battle of the Roses tie of the season 57-78, and in doing so moved to the top of the BBL Championship Northern Conference. 

Giants were missing key personnel, including England international Martin Gottfried (knee), and never really threatened the Sharks, as their offensive game failed to fire. Sharks began the game with an 11-2 run and steadily built on their advantage, opening up a 32-41 half-time lead, which they duly extended. 

Nate Reinking was at his high-scoring best with a game-high 21 points for Sheffield; Julius Joseph added 17 for the Giants.
