Manchester
Giants strengthened their play-off hopes with a cross-conference success
over
London Leopards
in the BBL Championship, taking a 95-83 victory on Saturday night.
The Giants, despite
missing Justin Phoenix (flu) and Brian Reese (knee), fought hard throughout
and built up a two-point led by half-time, thanks mainly to ten unanswered
points in the second quarter.
Andre Alleyne's men
went on to out-score the Leopards 13-2 at the start of the third period,
before 13 straight points by the Leopards tied the game at 55-55. In the
end, eight straight points from Giants in the final minute, including four
from the charity stripe, was enough to see the hosts to the win.
Brian Earl and Julius
Joseph top scored in the game with 26 points each for the Giants, while
Rashod Johnson bagged
21 for the Leopards.
