Earl lords it over
Rocks
Edinburgh Rocks opened up their uni-ball
trophy campaign at MEN Arena on Wednesday night but it was the hosts, Manchester
Giants, who took the points, winning 74-64 thanks to a strong finish.
There was little to chose between the sides
for three quarters, Giants just edging ahead 56-53 going into the final
period. The Rocks, without the injured Ted Berry and Iain Maclean, were
still within five of the Giants two minutes from the end, but the home
side finished the game with the last five points to move level with Newcastle
in second place in Group C.
Brian Earl notched a game-best 23 points
while Jo-Jo Chambers led the Rocks on 16.
