Haribo London
Towers sealed the BBL Championship series with rivals Leopards with a 91-75
victory at Crystal Palace NSC on Saturday evening.
After an even first
five minutes, Leopards edged the first quarter and built up an 11-point
lead early in the second period at 18-29. Towers hit ten answered points
after that, to bring themselves back into the game, and by the half-time
interval, had established an eight-point lead at 47-39.
A 15-0 tear in the
third, including a trio of consecutive three-pointers from Steve Bucknall,
saw Towers take a 67-46 lead.
However Leopards'
play-caller Bob Donewald was controversially ejected early in the fourth
quarter for appealing what appeared to be a refereeing error, the harshly-judged
double technical proving a handicap which was too great for his team to
recover from.
Bucknall led Towers
scoring with 20 points, but Rashod Johnson led all scorers with 26.
The Londoners now
need one more win to seal the Southern Conference title.
