London Leopards
defeated Natural Flow Newcastle Eagles 103-100 in a pulsating NTL National
Cup quarter-final game, the sides separated ultimately by a Rashod Johnson
three pointer with 27 seconds remaining.
This came after a
great move by Newcastle's TJ Walker, who stole the ball from the Leopards,
and scored at the other end, giving Eagles a 100-99 advantage. However,
when Leopards retaliated, Eagles could not find another basket.
It was harsh on the
Tyneside outfit, who had trailed narrowly for most of the contest but never
let the Southern Conference rivals get away.
Johnson led all scorers
with 30 points for the winning Leopards who now set sail for the United
States for a mid-season tour.
Tony Windless led
Newcastle with 21, Brian Ehlers adding 20.
