London Leopards
notched up their second victory of the BBL Championship season, and their
first in front of their home fans, with a hard-fought 89-85 success over
Newcastle Eagles on Saturday.
The hosts took the
lead towards the end of the first quarter and kept their noses in front
for the remainder of the game.
However, Tony Garboletto's
guests kept in touch, thanks to some missed free throws down by the Leopards
the stretch, and drew within two points with two minutes remaining to make
it a tense finish, Bob Donewald's men just holding on.
Leopards' Jason Kimbrough
led all scorers with 20 points, while Eagles' new pair, Donnie Johnson
and Brian Ehlers, added 18 points each for the visitors.
