London Towers
won the first London derby of the season, defeating London Leopards 95-89
at Brentwood Leisure Centre in a pulsating overtime game.
The game was close
throughout, with Towers just one point to the good at half-time. Six unanswered
points in the third quarter saw them extend their lead out to seven points
at 54-47. However, the home side were not finished and they hit back with
a Rod Brown shot giving Leopards’ their first lead of the game at 72-71
with 3.35 remaining.
They later led 80-79,
before Towers’ Eric Taylor made one of his two free throws with three seconds
remaining to force overtime, in which Towers outscored their rivals 15-9.
Kendrick Warren led all scorers with 27 points, while Maurice Robinson
bagged 23 for the Leopards.
