They came
to salute the new Cup holders at Loughborough on Sunday night.
And Leicester Riders
refused to spoil the fun, digging their heels to come from behind to pull
off a 79-67 victory over the Edinburgh Rocks.
The Scots threatened
to poop the party spirit after they fired 11 of the first 14 points to
take a lead which was still theirs at half-time. Behind 39-35 at that point,
the Riders recovered quickly and went in front for good early in the third
quarter after consecutive treys from Larry Johnson and Malcollm Leak.
"Losing to Leicester
was tough to take," admitted MacLean, whose side have now lost 13 in a
row.
"We established ourselves
early, were more aggressive defensively and we asked a lot of questions
of them, which should put us closer to our first win."
Although Edinburgh
- led by Ted Berry's 28 points - kept up the pressure, MacLean admitted
they had nothing left to give in the closing stages.
"Again, fatigue was
factor, we were guilty of some silly errors and in some respects, we ran
out of ideas down the final stretch."
Johnson led Leicester
with 28.
