Leicester
Riders are going to the play-offs.
A hard-fought 104-92
defeat of Derby Storm ensured that Billy Mims' side advance and that the
reign of Manchester Giants is over.
Mims racked up his
150th BBL win as a coach but it was the fourth placed finish in the Northern
Conference which provided the principal reason for celebration at Loughborough.
Victory came courtesy
of a 12-2 fourth quarter tear, which put the Riders 82-77 ahead - a lead
that the hometown Riders never relinquished again. Earlier, the game had
been as close and tense as you would expect of a local derby with the teams
tied 47-47 at half-time.
Ralph Blalock was
the game's top marksman with 30 points for Leicester, while Joel Burns
added 28 for Derby.
