Leicester
Riders push for a play-off place was given a boost with a 98-84 success
at home to Midlands' rivals, Pertemps Bullets Birmingham.
The Riders led began
well, with the first six points of the game and they led from then on for
the rest of the game. The third quarter proved to be their best spell -
they hit a 9-2 run early on in the quarter to lead 58-46 and finished off
the quarter with a 10-4 tear that saw them leading 76-62.
Bullets were unable
to make any serious inroads into the Riders lead and a 9-3 burst by the
home side in the fourth quarter sealed the game, condemning the visitors
to their second loss of the weekend.
"I couldn't believe
how flat we were," remarked Bullets coach Lance Randall. "We put ourselves
in a hole from the start and didn't have the firepower to shoot our way
out of it."
Billy Singleton was
in inspired form for Leicester, with a game-high 28 points; England international
Yorick Williams added 18 for Birmingham.
