Derby Storm came from behind in the final quarter to see off Thames Valley Tigers 94-92 in their uni-ball Trophy Group B clash at a near-empty Thunderdome, advancing the hosts' cause of making the last eight.
Kevin Wall's side trailed 80-87 in the final quarter but notched nine without reply to steal a lead which they maintained in the closing minutes.
But the game turned when Storm duo Hilroy Thomas and Michael New along with Tigers' John McCord, Chander Bingham and Mark Jackson were all ejected from the contest.
A fracas which started after McCord was fouled saw the American and Thomas square up while Bingham, New and Jackson were dismissed for leaving the bench. All five will face discliplinary hearings on December 19.
The ejections left Tigers with just five players - including veteran pairing Michael Hayles and Julio Politit - and the 45-46 lead they held at that point soon disappeared.
Although the Storm were without Bryan Balser and Antonio Garcia, they came on strong in the final quarter, helped by 11 quickfire points from Stedroy Baker in their late burst.
Tigers levelled at 90-90 with 13 seconds left but Barry Bowman - Derby's top scorer with 25 - notched the next four points to seal the match.
Thames Valley - who suffered their first loss in a group they still head - were led by 30 points from Greg Meldrum.
