London Towers
may have lived up to their pre-season hype by gaining a comfortable first
day win in the BBL. But it was unsung Wayne Henry - the sole survivor from
the club's former incarnation as Crystal Palace - who made an early mark,
netting 21 points in a 78-89 away win at Derby Storm.
Towers dominated
for much of the game, leading 29-14 after the first quarter and extending
their lead in the second period, leading by as much as 21 points,
at 46-25.
With Joel Burns maning
the point after a work application for Demar moore was turned down, the
closest Storm got was at 54-59 in the third period, but it was short lived
as Towers extended the lead again.
"We played hard,
played together and were within a couple of breaks of bring right there
with the best team in the league,” said new Storm cach Kevin Wall, who
will this week step up his search for a point guard and a centre.
“I’m disappointed
we didn’t play better but I understand why.”
Michael New top scored
with 23 points for Derby while LJ Johnson added 21.
