A double overtime
thriller saw the London Leopards snatch a 107-108 victory over the Derby
Storm at the Thunderdome.
The southerners dominated
the first half with an impressive Michael Martin making up for the absence
of injured Mo Robinson, leaving Derby trailing 36-47 at the half.
In the third quarter
Joel Burns led a Derby fight-back to cut the Leopards lead from 23 points
to 15. This continued in the fourth quarter with a Barry Bowman three tieing
the game 85-85 at the end of regulation.
Confusion at the
end of a tied overtime concluded with David Attewell missing two free throws
to send the game into a second overtime at 94-94.
With the Leopards
down to four players and over two minutes to play, Derby looked to have
control. But two free throws from Rashod Johnson saw Bob Donewald’s team
snatch the win with just thirteen seconds remaining. The final score was
107-108, with top-scorer Johnson bagging a magnificient 41 points.
Joel Burns with 29
and Antonio Garcia on 21 led the Storm's offensive effort.
