Newcastle
Eagles avenged last weekend's defeat by Chester Jets with a 85-100 win
over the same side - this time in the NTL National Cup, the first defeat
for Robbie Peers side this term.
However, it was a
close opening half at Northgate Arena with only a handful of points separatign
the Conference rivals.
The game turned in
the third quarter, when Eagles hit 15 unanswered points to lead 47-65.
The closest the Jets got was ten points in the final quarter, at 78-88
and at 80-90.
Eagles extended their
margin of victory with the last six points of the game, all from the charity
stripe. Summer signing, Brian Ehlers was in top form with 26 points for
the victorious Eagles, while New Zealander Pero Cameron notched up 27 for
Chester.
