Chester
Jets were still riding high after their uni-ball trophy success on Saturday
night, as they
assured themselves
of second in the BBL Championship Northern Conference with this 80-66
success over Manchester
Giants.
However, it was close
in the first quarter, but Giants' 18-19 advantage towards the end of the
first period was to be the visitors last lead.
From there, Jets
dominated and a 9-0 run in the second quarter gave them a 40-26 lead. Giants
responded with a third-quarter 9-0 tear of their own, as Brian Reese, Justin
Phoenix and Julius Joseph all netted and got an extra foul shot each to
reduce the deficit to 53-44.
However it was not
enough and Chester eased to the victory to increase the celebratory mood
at Northgate.
James Hamilton was
the star man with a game-high 29 points; Phoenix and Joseph each bagged
14 for the Giants who now require a miracle to make the play-offs.
