Jets moved top of the Northern Conference of the BBL Championship with
a 80-64 victory over near rivals, Manchester Giants, the seventh consecutive
BBL win for Robbie Peers' unbeaten side.
"It's a great feeling
to be top," said the 36-year-old play-caller, who equalled Mike Burton's
club record for victories on the trot.
"We had a good weekend.
We definitely improved and went up a level, but I think we needed to and
we will have to continue to.
"We are not going
to look at the table until March, because that's when it starts to count.
What we do now is just knuckle down and prepare for the next test. We treat
everyone with respect and don't look down on anyone or look up at anyone
either.
"We have got to keep
a level head. We want to just challenge in every game we play and be competitive
and if we do that, then everything else takes care of itself."
Although the visiting
Giants started the brighter, a 13-0 run in the first quarter brought the
Jets back into it at 17-9 ' a lead that Jets never surrendered.
Jets added to their
lead with six three pointers in the second quarter and a 10-4 tear in the
third period and although Giants rallied and won the fourth quarter, it
was too late.
James Hamilton and
Tarik Wallace led Jets' scoring with 24 points each, while Giants' Justin
Phoenix led all scorers with 28 points.
