Dave Gardner
became only the sixth player in British basketball history to amass 6000
league points as his Chester Jets went top of the North with a 101-79 win
over Derby Storm.
After missing two
first half free throws either which would have brought up the 6000, Gardner
made a fastbreak lay-up to reach the landmark with 8.20s left in the game.
The Jets led for much of the game and 18 unanswered third quarter points
gave them an unassailable 75-46 lead, James Hamilton and Loren Meyer showing
no ill effects from Saturday's All-Star outing with 27 and 22 points respectively.
Derby's Barry Bowman
led all scorers with 28.
