BBL Tigers hold off comeback Riders
Thames Valley Tigers defeated the Renault Leicester Riders 86-76 at home in the Dairylea Dunkers Championship to keep themselves level on points with Milton Keynes Lions in third place in the Southern Conference.
The home win came courtesy of a superb first half display when they enjoyed a 21-6 run in the first quarter to lead 28-15. Eight unanswered points from the home side in the second quarter extended that lead out to 44-23.
Leicester slowly clawed their way back into the game, as Tigers' Billy Singleton fouled out in the third period, and Riders went on to get to within four points at 73-69 in the final quarter, following a 3-14 run. However, Tigers had an 11-2 tear down the stretch to pull out a ten-point win.
Riders' Purnell Perry top scored with 28 points, but it was not enough as Tony Christie led the Bracknell outfit with 24.
